MUST READ NOTES REGARDING SPARRING AND SPARRING GEAR
- Sparring gear must be purchased through Champion Black Belt to meet our insurance requirements. Generic gear and MMA style gear purchased through other vendors or box stores will not be allowed in class and at most tournaments.
- Student must have mouth guard and protective cup (for males) to participate in sparring activities.
- Standard, strapless mouth guards are adequate
- Recommend purchasing protective cup with compression shorts versus traditional jock style athletic supporters.
- We also recommend a mouth guard case for storage.
- Mouth guard, protective cup, and mouth guard case can be purchased through Academy, Wal-Mart, Amazon, etc.
- Optionally can substitute sparring headgear with face shield, see item details below.

Sparring Headgear with face shield
Headgear with face shield is not required for sparring at Champion Black Belt. Sparring rules prohibit direct contact with the face. However some tournaments may require headgear with face shields (especially for under 18 classes), or student may want extra protection of a face shield in case of accidentally direct face contact. (Headgear is a different design and face shield cannot be attached to standard P2 Headgear).
